Katie Hearns is a rising senior at Virginia Tech, pursuing a double major in Hospitality and Tourism Management and Marketing, with a minor in Events and Experience Management. Over her time at Virginia Tech, her summer internships included working as a Food and Beverage Intern for Army Navy Country Club and this past summer, as a Global Meetings and Events Intern at Marriott Headquarters in Bethesda, MD.

During her time at Virginia Tech, she was treasurer of Hospitality Management Association, president and treasurer of Virginia Tech’s chapter of CHAARG a national workout-social club, and treasurer of Virginia Tech’s chapter, IfYou’reReadingThis.org, a mental health nonprofit.

She has also joined other organizations in the business field which has helped her network extensively. She believes that these experiences have helped shaped her leadership style. Her focus in the hospitality world revolves around creating memorable moments. Some of her main passions include her family, her career, and Virginia Tech football games. She hopes to further her career in hospitality after graduation and return to Virginia Tech to share her industry experience with future students.
